President Masoud Pezeshkian says the government has no intention of cutting off water, electricity or gas supplies to industries, despite reduced rainfall in recent years.
Speaking via video conference at the inauguration of four major Energy Ministry projects on Monday, Pezeshkian said his administration is committed to keeping the wheels of production turning. “We have made every effort to ensure production continues and hope to get through this year with the least possible tension and problems – something that requires the cooperation of our dear people,” he said.
The president noted that rainfall levels in the country over the past eight years have been below the 50-year average, warning that this calls for a new approach to managing resources. “We must seriously reconsider our consumption of water, electricity, and gas,” he said.
Pezeshkian also called for a shift from gas-based to electricity-based energy use in households, emphasizing the benefits of clean energy. “By using clean electricity, we will have a healthier environment, and it will be more economical and manageable,” he added.
Referring to the years-long drought, Pezeshkian said sustainable development depends on effective water resource management. “If we do not think about securing water resources, development will be meaningless,” he said. “We must adopt methods that ensure stability and sustainability so that our people can live with strength, dignity, and confidence.”
