Iran Chamber signs five-way pact to improve business environment

Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture has signed a five-way memorandum of understanding with key government bodies aimed at strengthening coordination and improving the country’s business environment.

The agreement was unveiled on Monday during the 138th meeting of the Government-Private Sector Dialogue Council at the Iran Chamber. The signatories are the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, the Presidential Legal Affairs Office, the Ministry of Interior, the Cabinet Secretariat and the Iran Chamber of Commerce. Iran Chamber President Samad Hassanzadeh said the memorandum was the result of a year of efforts and follow-up and would provide a framework for continued cooperation in identifying and addressing problems facing businesses. He said the continued involvement of relevant government bodies could accelerate the identification of obstacles and ambiguities affecting economic activity and help advance measures to address them. Hassanzadeh stressed that economic challenges could not be resolved by a single institution and required coordination among different government bodies and the private sector. He said the Iran Chamber would seek to play a more active role alongside the government and other institutions in addressing issues related to production and employment. The agreement is intended to develop a mechanism for greater coordination in economic governance, reduce barriers to business activity and increase confidence among economic operators. Economy Minister Ali Madanizadeh described the memorandum as a basis for strengthening cooperation between the government and private sector and improving the business environment. Madanizadeh said the Iran Chamber, through its direct engagement with businesses and knowledge of their challenges, could play an effective role in identifying obstacles and supporting efforts to improve the business environment. He called for the cooperation under the agreement to continue and lead to practical measures to reduce barriers to economic activity.
