Iran expands techno-engineering exports to Armenia

Iran is expanding exports of technical and engineering services to Armenia, with Iranian contractors taking part in infrastructure projects including roads and sections of the North-South corridor, the head of the Iran-Armenia Joint Chamber of Commerce said.

Herovik Yarijanyan said trade ties between Iran and Armenia had maintained a steady growth path despite regional developments and conflicts, adding that economic cooperation had gradually expanded beyond the exchange of goods. “Iran was previously known mainly as an exporter of goods to Armenia, but exports of technical and engineering services have now developed alongside goods exports,” Yarijanyan told the official website of Iran Chamber of Commerce. He said Iranian contractors were involved in construction projects in Armenia, including road projects and parts of the North-South corridor, highlighting the growing role of Iranian companies in the country’s infrastructure sector. Yarijanyan said the two countries had agreed to establish a green customs corridor, which could simplify customs procedures, reduce processing times and help remove obstacles to trade. He also pointed to cooperation within the Eurasian framework as another opportunity to expand bilateral commerce. Yarijanyan also said Iran was exporting electricity to Armenia, with the value of the cooperation reaching about $810 million. He said expanding exports of technical and engineering services, facilitating customs procedures and strengthening financial mechanisms could further increase economic cooperation between Iran and Armenia.
