Iran, Bangladesh seek stronger trade ties and more business exchanges

Iran and Bangladesh should expand economic and trade cooperation by identifying new areas of business and creating greater opportunities for private-sector companies to enter each other’s markets, Iran Chamber of Commerce Vice President Hossein Pirmoazzen said.

Pirmoazzen made the remarks during a meeting with Rabeya Sultana, commercial counsellor at the Bangladeshi Embassy in Tehran, at the Ardebil Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture. He highlighted Iran’s potential in industries and mining, agriculture and food processing, tourism and transit, saying these capabilities offered a range of opportunities for cooperation with Bangladesh. He also pointed to Bangladesh’s large market and its manufacturing, export and trading capabilities as potential drivers of two-way economic ties. Pirmoazzen said identifying bilateral trade and investment opportunities and introducing them to business communities was essential to expanding relations. Direct contacts between traders and industrialists could help businesses better understand each other’s markets, conclude commercial agreements and launch joint projects, he added. Sultana stressed the importance of strengthening contacts between Iranian and Bangladeshi businesses and called for increased exchanges of trade delegations. She said closer links among chambers of commerce, companies and businesspeople could help identify new areas of cooperation. Sultana also said the Bangladeshi embassy was ready to help introduce trade and investment opportunities, facilitate contacts between businesses and support the participation of Iranian companies in commercial events in Bangladesh.
