The Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) is an international organization that started in 1997 with the initiative of India and Mauritius. The union consists of 23 countries. As a member of the organization, Iran plays a significant role in the organization’s activities. Iran is committed to promoting sustainable growth and balanced development of the region and member states, focusing on those areas of economic cooperation that provide maximum opportunities for development, shared interest, and mutual benefits3. Iran undertakes projects for economic cooperation relating to trade facilitation and liberalization, promotion of foreign investment, scientific and technological exchanges, tourism, movement of natural persons and service providers on a non-discriminatory basis, and the development of infrastructure and human resources, poverty alleviation, promotion of maritime transport and related matters, cooperation in the fields of fisheries trade, research and management, aquaculture, education and training, energy, IT, health, protection of the environment, agriculture, disaster management, and women’s economic empowerment.
